The Bowery is a large-scale redevelopment of Downtown Akron, Ohio consisting of six historic buildings. LDA used years of experience from historic preservation and adaptive re-use projects to redevelop the properties for modern use, while preserving and celebrating the buildings,
and Downtown Akron’s, prominent past. The development will bring retail, residential, and mixed-use space to Downtown Akron’s Main
Street by solidifying it as one of the city’s most valuable districts for culture, entertainment, and residences. LDA architects work included connecting buildings of various floor heights to create contiguous floors for office and residential spaces, as well as realizing the potential of restoring sidewalk vaults on Main Street for additional detail and character.
