Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences

Cleveland, Ohio

Client: Case Western Reserve University

LDA completed a feasibility and space programming study for the renovation and expansion of the Mandel School for Applied Social Sciences (MSASS) building originally designed by James Stewart Polshek and Partners in 1989. The proposed expansion will add approximately 2,000 square feet to the existing 40,000 square foot building. LDA prepared a conceptual design that partially encloses the existing courtyard to create a central atrium with access to the relocated library that exhibits a key component of the school’s mission and public outreach. A new side entrance is proposed to allow after hour and weekend access to the library as well as a casual entrance for the new Research Center that occupies an interconnected space on the second and third floors
