MLK Library
LDA and MASS Design Group partnered to submit a “radical” design proposal for the MLK Library Design Competition. The LDA/MASS team was chosen as one of three finalists to be interviewed by Cleveland Public Library stakeholders and participate in a community forum unveiling designs. Designs incorporated the use of quilting patterns that were used in the Underground Railroad to communicate messages regarding safe passage. The design included an event space, a performance venue, and library, with an intentionally design and prominent space to house for the Anisfield-Wolf Collection, a collection of books by winners of the annual literary award granted by the Cleveland Foundation honoring writing on race and equality.
