LDA architects is working to renovate an existing apartment building on a prominent avenue at the edge of downtown Cleveland. A modern façade gives each apartment unit a great view of downtown and a view toward Lake Erie, while also breaking the orthogonal grid of the surrounding buildings. By creating angled walls at the balconies and bays, the residents will have a wide angle view of Cleveland from each unit and outdoor balcony. The south facing side of the balcony is glass to provide views to Cleveland and natural daylight into the apartments while the other side is solid to provide privacy from the adjacent unit. On top of the building frame sits 2-story apartment units with an angled roof that references the focal design of the façade.
