CLEVELAND OH
Variety Theatre

LDA is the architect for the rehabilitation of the Variety Theatre, opening in 1927 it was primarily a movie house until it turned into a popular concert venue from 1976-1984. The last performance was a Motörhead show in 1984 in which the “The Loudest Band in the World” played at a volume of 130 decibels, causing plaster to fall from the ceiling and resulting in the permanent closure of the theater. The Theater has a capacity of about 2,000 patrons, including about 400 seats in the balcony. The project will restore the interior lobby and theatre to a concert space once again, while the ground floor storefronts and second floor apartments will be rejuvenated as well.
